Mission Statement:

Our missoin is to provide services with compassion and respect for victims of violent crime to help them understand their options, minimize their trauma, and stabilize their lives.


Who is a victim?

A victim is an individual who suffers physical or mental harm as a result of criminally injurious conduct, such as:

  • Victims of physical assault
  • Survivors of homicide victims
  • Victims of vehicular assault and reckless driving
  • Child victims of physical and/or sexual assault
  • Victims of robbery
  • Victims of elder abuse
  • Victims of stalking
  • Victims of bias/hate crimes
  • Victims of arson
  • Victims of DUI/DWI
  • Adults molested as children

This population also includes:

  1. Individuals with disabilities who are the victims of serious crime,
  2. Individuals who become disabled as a result of being the victim of a serious crime

Counties Served:

Our advocates serve victims of crime and their families in a wide geographic area through home visits, court accompaniment and support groups as needed. Crime Victim Services is located in Corpus Christi, Texas, however we do serve the following counties in Texas:

We can help...

Dealing with the aftermath of a violent crime can be overwhelming. To help reduce stress, minimize the impact of trauma, and provide immediate support, guidance and problem solving, we provide the following services:

  • Trauma reduction therapy for victims and their families
  • Assistance with Crime Victims' Compensation benefits
  • Accompaniment and support during trials and hearings
  • Information and referral to community resources
  • Comprehensive follow-up services
  • Assistance in accessing other services

Our services are free and confidential, available in English and Spanish, with reasonable accomodations offered.

What is Crime Victims' Compensation?

The Texas Crime Victims' Compensation fund is generated by costs paid by criminals in the state of Texas. The fund is distributed by the Crime Victims' Compensation Division of the Attorney General's Office to assist eligible victims pay for the expenses resulting from the crime. Some of these expenses may include funeral and burial expenses, medical expenses, counseling, and loss of earnings.

Crime Victim Services works in cooperation with area law enforcement agencies, prosecutor's offices, and other service providers in the community.

Crime Victim Services is a non-profit organization. Our funding is provided from grants through the State of Texas Offices of the Attorney General, and by United Way of the Coastal Bend.

Crime Victim Services is accredited for Crisis Response and Information Services through the Council on Accreditation.
